WATCH OVER THEM WITH ALL DILIGENCE!

Bible Texts: Zech.10:1-2, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.6:34, Jer.49:19, Pro.4:20-22

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain, so the Lord shall make bright clouds and give them showers of rain to everyone grass in the field. For the idols have spoken vanity and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams, they comfort in vain, therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled because there was no shepherd (Zech.10:1-2)

When the husbandman ceases to function in his capacity as the good shepherd over his family, trouble becomes inevitable (Matt.9:36). The absence of a true shepherd is the gateway to chaos and troubles. Zechariah chapter 10 and verse 2, tells us that the people were troubled because there was no shepherd. As the head of your family, you are the shepherd overseeing the sheep (your wife and your children) to nurture, protect, cultivate and develop. So, you are more than a title holder. Your covenant responsibility is to secure your sheep from the attacks and influences of the world. You are like the door; hence, nothing can reach your flock if you do not allow it.

But for you to function in this glorious position as the good and godly shepherd, you must assume full and personal responsibility over the lives of your wife and children. You must not be like Adam, the husband of Eve, who was quick to make excuses for his failure to be the good shepherd God had intended (Gen.3:3-10).

Secondly, you must be committed to doing what the shepherd-hood office demands from Scriptures, even when it is not convenient and does not make sense. The proof of commitment is your action.

Furthermore, you must remain in the Spirit by daily nourishing your inner man with the Word of God, meditating upon it until it becomes the very essence of your life (Proverbs 4:20-22). In an era where pervasive falsehoods and deceptions are on the increase, you hold a sacred duty as a shepherd to stand guard and protect your flock from spiritual compromise.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to provide protection marks for my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with divine wisdom and help me to walk in Your word.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the Spirit of truth and revelation.

FAITH CONFESSION

I make myself available to be the good shepherd to my wife and children because that is what gives value to my headship as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.

PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
