Bible Texts: 1Tim.3:1-5, Matt.5:14-16, Col.3:19, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.5:25, Deut.6:1-7, Eph.6:4, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Acts 1:1
Yesterday, we started this teaching series by examining from Scripture the true definition of the good and godly husbandman, so that you and I can examine ourselves to see if we are still the good and godly husbandman.
This is a true saying, if a man desire the OFFICE OF A BISHOP, he desireth a GOOD WORK. A bishop then MUST BE BLAMELESS, the HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, VIGILANT, SOBER, of GOOD BEHAVIOR, GIVEN TO HOSPITALITY, APT TO TEACH, NOT GIVEN TO WINE, NO STRIKER, NOT GREEDY OF FILTHY LUCRE, but PATIENT, NOT A BRAWLER, NOT COVETOUS, ONE THAT RULETH WELL HIS OWN HOUSE, HAVING HIS CHILDREN IN SUBJECTION WITH ALL GRAVITY (1Tim.3:1-5)
The Word of God in 1st Timothy chapter 3, provides more insight into the definition of the good and godly husbandman. If your life does not reflect what the Scripture has described, you don’t have to give up. You can still become the good and godly husbandman, only if you are will and obedient (Is.1:19).
The husbandman who wants to be good and godly must be blameless. This demands that he must be faultless like Daniel in the Bible (Dan.6:3-4). Can your wife, your children and those you relate with vouch for your character of honesty, integrity, fairness, truthfulness, and humility?
The husbandman who wants to be good and godly must be a husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, be of good behaviour both at home and in the marketplace, respectful to all, regardless of age, class, gender, or position. He must be hospitable and treat others fairly without any form of discrimination. He must also not be covetous, always wanting everything to himself and not minding the feelings and concerns of others. He must be able to rule his home according to the principles of the Word of God, having his children and household subject to the leadership of Jesus Christ.
You must recognize that your actions, conduct and words define who you are because they are always visible for all to see. Therefore, let what you do and say speak loudest in line with the Word of God because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
Hallelujah!
