BUILDING THE MOMENTUM (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.24:2-5

More Scriptures: Pro.16:17, 1Cor.15:33, Jas.3:10

Yesterday, we began by reaffirming the will of God for you as the head of your family. So, in the next six days, I will be sharing with you six practical steps you must take to becoming the good and godly husband. I call it, building the momentum.

The first choice you must make is to be committed to living a life of consecration. That is to live a holy and a righteous life. As the head of your family and the foundation upon which your wife and children’s lives are built upon, you cannot camp around sin and iniquity. You are made by God to please Him. God wants you to come up to Him so that He can have fellowship with you. God wants to reveal secrets to you that will put you in command of your sheepfold and your relationship with your wife and children. Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity nor sworn deceitfully (Ps.24:3-4). You must understand that you need the wisdom of God in your life to succeed as the godly husbandman. It is the principal thing (Pro.4:7). It is the wisdom of God working in your life that will help you to solve the challenge of disrespect, disloyalty, abuses, rebellion and unforgiveness that exist between you and your sheep. And holiness and righteousness are two indispensable gateways.

Now consider this Scripture for a moment and then I would share three areas where you must be committed to a life of holiness and righteousness. The highway of the upright is to depart from evil, he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul (Pro.16:17). So, if you want to walk the highway of the good and godly husband you must depart from evil in these three areas. The first is the words that come out from your mouth. You must depart from abusing your wife and children. You must depart from cursing them. You must depart from wishing them bad will. It does not matter what your sheep may have done to you and it matters less what others or the society may have said about your wife and children. You must not speak evil against them. You cannot use your mouth to tell your wife that you love her or tell your children that you love them and use the same mouth to curse them (Jas.3:10). Secondly, you must guard your heart from evil thoughts because as a man thinks, so he is and so will he act. No husband can be greater than the things he thinks and mediates on. Therefore, mind what you read, watch and hear. Thirdly, you must depart from bad company and ungodly environment. The word of God tells us that bad company corrupts good manners (1Cor.15:33). You must avoid drinking joints, brothels, strip clubs and any such places that do not project Jesus Christ. These are the choices you must make and take. It is profitable.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of holiness and help me to live a holy life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of boldness and courage and help me to depart from ungodly environment and company.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with a holy hatred for sin and its attractions.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to living a life of holiness and righteousness because that is what empowers me to function as the good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
