You Must Be Led By The Spirit

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.4:1-2

More Scriptures: Jn.4:24, Jn.6:63, Jn.14:17

One of the greatest undoings of many husbands is to think that they can do without the help of the Holy Spirit, when it comes to issues that concern their flock. A lot of husbands are quick to forget that the kingdom that God has positioned them to rule over is first a spiritual one, created by God, who is Spirit (Gen.2:14-18, Jn.4:24). They also forget that the sheep (wife and children) in their care are spiritual products (Gen.2:21-23, Ruth 4:13). The outcome of leading your wife and children without the help of the Holy Spirit is frustration, depression, confusion and hopelessness. This is why the Scripture has this advice to give to every husband

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness (Lk.4:1).

Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, was led by the Spirit of God. He always depended on His heavenly Father in all the decisions He took. He did nothing except as directed by His Father. This is why He succeeded in all tasks while He was on earth. So, if Jesus triumphed because He was led by the Spirit, you can also succeed as a man, husband, father, priest, bishop, pastor and prophet. There are so many things you do not know about your wife and children. There are so many things you don’t even know how to pray about for your flock. But if you depend on the leading of the Spirit of God, your action towards your flock will be success, peace and quietness. However, you must humble yourself before the Lord and behave like a child. As a child you don’t pretend you know it all. Rather, you ask for help. According to the Scriptures, God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. You must also get rid of spiritual complacency. It doesn’t matter how much Bible knowledge you have or are familiar with, there are many more that you don’t know. That is why the Bible warns in Amos 6:1 that woe unto them that are at ease in Zion. So, you must learn, relearn and unlearn under the influence of the Spirit of God to make any meaningful impact as a husband.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and arrogance.

FAITH CONFESSION

I yield my spirit to the leading of the Spirit of God because that is what empowers me to do what is right to my wife and children as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
