Purity At Heart

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matthew 5:8

More Scriptures: Ps.51:10, Pro.23:7, Acts 15:9

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matt.5:8)

One area where many husbands struggle is immorality. A lot of husbands seem to be losing the war of living a holy life. Some husbands have given up hope and concluded that living in sin is the cross that they will have to carry till they die. Many husbands cannot understand why they are unable to live pure and truthful life. The Bible has provided the answers. The Scripture tells us that the starting point to living a life of purity is the heart. As the head of the family and the spiritual leader in your family fold, you must continue to guard your heart with all diligence. You must ensure that what you meditate on daily is the word of God. You must let the word of God guide your flesh, eyes and ears. In Pro.23:7, the word of God has this to say. For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he….So, you must be very watchful of what you allow into your heart. You must fill your heart with righteous thoughts toward your wife and children.

As the husbandman, pastor and priest over your flock, God demands purity in all areas of your life. God wants to have a much deeper fellowship with you to the extent that He could talk to you as His representative in your family fold. David, a husband like you and I, appreciated the need for living a life of godliness and how it impacted positively on his calling as a shepherd. He prayed in Ps.51:10, thus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. The moment your heart is pure, your thoughts toward your wife and children will be pure. A good tree will bear good fruits and a bad tree will bear bad fruits. Your call to husbandhood is a call to a righteous walk. It is call to a pathway of a new life in Christ such that you will influence your wife and children for good and for God. And as you cleanse your heart with the word of God, you are renewed to become a better man, husband and father, and according to the word of God, it shall be well with you.
