The Levitical Husband

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Num.6:22-27

More Scriptures: Heb.7:5, 1Pet.2:9, Heb.8:3

Who is a Levite? A Levite is a priest. He occupies the priestly office. He is a distinct class of personality with the rare privilege of executing the priestly functions. Now, that is who you are as the head of the family. You must understand that as the leader in your family fold, there are levels of authority that God wants you to flow in. There is the authority of a pastor. There is that of a prophet and there is that of a priest. At each level of this spiritual function come its blessings. There are times when you function in the office of a pastor. You teach your sheep, guide them and influence them unto becoming like Jesus Christ. That is why the Scripture describes Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband and whose mind you have, as the good shepherd. There are other times when you function in the office of a prophet. In this circumstance, you declare the whole counsel of God, His will and plans and purposes as they relate to your wife. This includes the will of God for their health, marriage, academics, relationships, finances, spirituality and so much more.

But today, let us consider how you function in the priestly office. As the priest over your flock, you stand in the gap between your flock and the throne of God. You connect the destinies of your sheep to heavenly blessings by the pronunciations and declarations that you make over them. What this means therefore is that you lay your hands over them and bless them with the blessings of the Lord. And the best template the Scriptures have provided for you as a priest is found in Numbers chapter 6 verses 22-27. But you must realize that the impact of your priestly blessing cannot be visible in the lives of your flock if it is not done in love. It is your love for your wife and children that empower the blessings of the Lord you pronounce on them. So, you must deal with the filthiness of the spirit and flesh (2Cor.7:1). You must engage the blood of Jesus to overcome filthiness such as bitterness, anger, envy, unforgiveness, bad will, pride and revenge. Therefore, you must work with the Person of the Holy Ghost to impart you with the Spirit of Christ-mercy, compassion, forgiveness, good will, kindness and so much more (1Cor.13:4-8)

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to fill the office of the priest in my family fold.

·         Father in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the filthiness of the flesh and make me to walk in love.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower Your blessings that I pronounce upon my wife and children with results.

I function in the office of the priest for the benefit of my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
