God Holds You Accountable

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Micah 6:7-8

More Scriptures: 1Cor.13:3, 1Sam.3:12-13, Gen.18:19

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, o man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:7-8)

Do you know that God will hold you accountable for the lives of your wife and children? And do you think that God will take it lightly with you when you fail as a man, husband and father? If you ever think so, you are in for a surprise. In Micah 6, the Scripture says and the Lord requires of you…. What this implies is that there are certain expectations that God demands from you as the head of the family and the shepherd of the sheep fold. This is because God elected you into the office of the husbandhood to exercise all the rights and responsibilities of a good and godly husband. God owns your wife. He owns your children. He gave them to you as His steward and He demands that you will be faithful in all your dealings with them. These few examples will surface. When the first family betrayed God, God did not ask for the wife. He asked for the husband. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and Adam and Eve hid themselves from the presence of the Lord………then the Lord God called Adam (husband) and said to him, “where are you”? And he (husband) said, I heard your voice and I was afraid……. Then to Adam (husband), He said, because you have heeded the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree which I commanded you ……(Gen.3:8, 9,10, 17).

When Priest Eli’s sons became riotous, God held their father accountable. In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house when I begin, I will also make an end. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth because his sons made themselves vile and he restrained them not (1Sam.3:12-13). When also the sons of Prophet Samuel walked the path of unrighteousness, God held their father to account. And it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel…………..and his sons walked not in his ways…….then all the elders said to Samuel to give them a king….. and the Lord said to Samuel, hearken unto thy voice of the people …… (1Sam.8:1-7). So to be accountably-responsible before God and be a good and godly husband to your wife and children, you must act justly and not seek revenge; show mercy not unforgiveness and walk in humility.
