Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, GIVING HONOUR TO YOUR WIFE as to the weaker vessel, and as being HEIRS TOGETHER OF THE GRACE OF LIFE that your prayers may not be hindered (1Pet.3:7). Yet you say, for what reason? Because THE LORD HAS BEEN WITNESS BETWEEN YOU AND THE WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH, with whom you have dealt treacherously, YET SHE IS YOUR COMPANION AND YOUR WIFE BY COVENANT (Mal.2:14)
The above Scripture is so important to every husband who wants to make a positive mark in his family-fold. This is because of the attack on the family by the forces of hell. Satan is on the rampage to steal, to kill and to destroy the heritage of the husbandman. And the first area he attacks is the relationship between the husband and his wife. But by the grace of God and the mandate of heaven upon my life, we shall overcome in Jesus name. Amen.
As the head of your family, you are the HUSBAND TO YOUR WIFE. The relationship you have with your wife as her husband is both supportive and a covenant, wherein you show her love and commitment. The Scripture gives you an insight. I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ (2Cor.11:2). You are the husband to your wife and not her slave master. You are in her life to support her and not to destroy her. She is your covenant partner and not your enemy or punching bag. A few Scriptures will help your understanding as a husband. So what makes you a husband to your wife is not in the size of your bank account or your academic or business successes, but the quality of your relationship with her. And this is reflected in the way and manner you treat her- forgive her when she offends you, defend her when her life is being threatened, support her to grow into the fullness of God’s plan for her life, having continuous goodwill towards her and exercising restraint when you have justification to revenge. But for you to function as a husband indeed to your wife, you must see her through God’s eyes. This means seeing her from the stand point of how God sees her. God sees her as a woman who is made in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26-28). Secondly, understand that she is human and would likely make mistakes and fall short of the standards God or you may have set for her. When you understand this, it will be easy for you to forgive and forget her failures. Thirdly, you must see her as a seed God has given to you hence you must continue to uphold her in your prayer altar. Therefore, make your relationship with your wife worth celebrating.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a victorious life as the husbandman.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, save me from ignorance and foolish talk.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to treat my sheep with honour and dignity.

My wife is my covenant partner and I treat her as a godly heir because I am a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
