Don’t Leave Your Wife In The Cold

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mark 6:33-37

More Scriptures: Jn.4:2, Mk.9:29, Rom.5:5

But the multitudes saw them departing and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him. And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. …………….. When the day was now spent, His disciples came to Him and said, this is a deserted place. And already the hour is late. Send them away that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread for they have nothing to eat. BUT HE ANSWERED AND SAID TO THEM, YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO EAT (Mk.6:33-37) NKJV

One of the worst things you can do to your wife and children is to abandon them when they need you most. Honestly, it leaves a negative lasting impact on them and a bitter taste in their mouth. It also creates a distance between you and them. And this is why Jesus, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, gave us an example to follow in our Bible passage we just read from Mk.6:33-37. Jesus Christ had a long stretch of teaching engagements. He had with Him multitudes, whom He referred to as sheep (Mk.6:34). They were hungry and needed  food. So, even when His disciples asked Him to send them away, He did not. He provided food for them to eat despite the unpleasant circumstances – they were in a desert place, and the time was far spent.

It is ungodly and wicked for you to abandon your wife and children to themselves. It is the attitude of a hireling for you to neglect your sheep in their most trying times. You must understand that your wife and children need you. They are your sheep and you are their shepherd. There are things they cannot do for themselves. There are things they are struggling with. They have fears, doubts, pains and regrets. You cannot leave them to themselves. Imagine for a moment what would have happened to the followers if Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, if He had not provided food for them. They would have been disappointed with Jesus Christ. Some of them would have died. And it may have been difficult for them to follow Jesus Christ again. Above all, Jesus would have lost His leadership testimony. That is what happens when you abandon your sheep. You lose your worth and value before them.

For you to be empowered to stand in the gap for your wife and children, you must be filled with compassion towards them. The second is for you to pray that the Person of the Holy Spirit will empower you not give up on your sheep at their most critical moment of need. And as you seek to fill the gaps in the lives of your sheep, God will honour you and husbands around  you will emulate you as a good and a godly husband.
