BE TRUTHFUL TO YOUR WIFE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Colossians 3:9

More Scriptures: Gen.2:24-25, Jas.16, 3Jn:8

This is the admonition to a husband reading this devotional today. And that is you must stop lying to your wife. You must be truthful to her in all things including your journeys, finances, and business and in all matters. From our Scripture reading today, the Word of God says, do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds. As the head of the family, you owe our wife the duty of telling her the truth. If you are going to work, tell her you are going to work. If you are travelling for an official assignment outside of town, tell her you will be out of town. If you are visiting a female friend, tell her you are visiting a female friend. If you have a property or building a house in any location or part of the world, let her know in totality. There are many husbands who have crashed from grace to grass because they lied to their wives about the things they were doing. You must understand that it is a risk to embark on a trip of perdition without telling your wife. For example, it is a death trap to tell your wife that you are travelling out of town for business deals, when you are down town with a woman in a hotel room. Have you wondered, what will happen to your family name if you get into trouble out of that unfaithful encounter? You may think that you are smarter.

But hear what the Word of the Lord is saying to you, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Lord, and he that breaks the hedge the serpent will bite. Many homes have disintegrated after the death of the husbands because certain information was hidden from the wife. If you read Gen.2 and the last verse, it says they became one flesh. This means there is a bond that exists between the husband and his wife. And it is this bond that creates the atmosphere of trust and the disclosure of information. Make your life open to your wife. Make your life very transparent to your wife. Be who you are to her and what you say you are. Be truthful to her. It will not cost you anything but will provide the much-needed safety you desire.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the power of lying and falsehood working in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of sin and deceit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, enthrone in my life, truth and sincerity at all times and in all things.

FAITH CONFESSION

I shall begin to tell the truth to my wife irrespective of the negatives because I am a good and godly husband in Jesus Precious Name. Amen.
