Main Scriptures: Is.43:18-19
More Scriptures: Heb.4:12, Jas.2:18, Acts 10:36
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Is.43:18-19).
I welcome you to the first day in the year 2019. I am convinced that you have been tremendously blessed throughout the year 2018 by the teachings in this devotional. I pray that the impact shall remain with you and your family in Jesus name. Amen.
So, as we begin the New Year, I perceive in my spirit that you may be agitated and afraid that some of the bad decisions you took as a man, husband and father in previous years may have a negative impact on your relationship with your sheep in this new year. You may also be wondering if you could become the good and godly shepherd to your wife and children as God would have wanted you to. Notwithstanding your fears for the new year, I want you to be rest assured that God is willing to cooperate with you for a new way of living. God wants to you to be a source of joy to your wife and children. God wants you to function as a priest, pastor, prophet in your sheepfold this year and beyond. God wants your wife and children and others around you to respect and honour you. That is the perfect will of God for you. God wants to do a new thing in your life.
But you have a responsibility. And that responsibility requires you to do the following. First, you must rededicate your life to Jesus Christ. This demands from you a complete submission of your life and all that you have to Him. The Bible says that if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold now all things have become new (2Cor.5:17). You must allow Jesus Christ to take first place in your decision, will, emotions and choices (Act.10:35-36). The second decision you must make and be committed to is for you to give yourself wholly to the study and meditation of the word of God. Why? It is because the word of God has the power and force to elevate and strengthen you. The Scripture tells us that the word of God is quick, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword able to pierce through the asunder of soul (Heb.4:12). The third commitment you must make is to be determined to act on what you have learnt from the word of God. Yea, a man may say, thou hast faith and I have works, show me thy faith without works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. (Jas.2:18).
You can be the good and godly husband this year. Are you ready?
