THE PEACE DOME

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1 Tim.2:1-4

More Scriptures: Ps.147:13-14, Jn.14:27, Heb.12:11

I exhort therefore that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks, be made for all men. For kings and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour. Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth (1Tim.2:1-4). As I reflect on the subject of peace between the shepherd and his sheep and the importance of having a peaceful sheepfold, my mind raced back to the glory dome of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, Nigeria. The church is pastored by Pst. (Dr) Paul Enenche. The auditorium is called the glory dome. It is a spectacle to behold and it radiates peace and tranquility for the worshippers. That is the kind of dome that God wants you to build for your sheep. God is interested in your peace and the peace of your sheep. But why peace?

From the Scripture, peace is one of the virtues of love and a fruit of the Spirit. God is the Author of peace and because you are made in the image and likeness of God, you carry the grace to live in peace with your sheep. For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates, he hath blessed thy children within thee. HE MAKETH PEACE IN THY BORDERS and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat (Ps.147:13-14). The Bible says that he makes peace. This indicates that peace is not what you wish for. It is what you deliberately initiate. So, you can make peace happen. As the pastor, priest and prophet over your sheep, you also have the power to create a peaceful dome where your sheep can find comfort, hope, faith and confidence. As the head of the family with the principal responsibility of leading your sheep, you will face challenges from your sheep. Sometimes, these challenges come unannounced and other times your sheep intentionally create trouble for you. Notwithstanding the problems you may have with your wife and children, you can take control of the negative situation and establish the peace of God with your wife and children and the in your home.

But why will God want me to make peace with my sheep? The first reason is because peace is one of the characters of Jesus Christ. The Bible says of Jesus Christ. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives (Jn.14:27. Secondly, God wants you to make peace so that you can truly enjoy His peace in your life and with your family. Finally, it is because He is interested in your salvation as well as your sheep’s. God puts in charge to lead your sheep unto godliness. He is more interested in you and your sheep than your possessions. He wants eternal fellowship with you and your sheep. So, I encourage you to take the initiative.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take the bold step to initiate peace in my home.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give my wife and children a new heart to receive my peace initiatives.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, sustain the peace of my sheep and my sheepfold till You return.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a peacemaker and I am building a peace dome for the benefit of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
