Having considered the enormous power that God has endowed you with as the godly man, husband and father, including the leadership role you occupy in your sheepfold, it is unmistaken truth that if your family succeeds it is you gain and if it fails it is your fault. God will commend you or hold you to account for your sheep and sheepfold. He will not hold your parents, in-laws, wife, children and the society responsible. (Gen.3:8-9, 1Sam.3:12-13, Gen.17:1-4, 1Sam.8:1-7).
So, you must continue to watch over your sheep and sheepfold as well as watch over yourself. And this why we shall be looking at the importance of your place as the watchman over the sheep that God has given to you. Now, that you have taken responsibility to watch over your sheep, what must you be aware of? “And he called them unto him and said unto them in parables, how can satan cast out satan? And if a KINGDOM be divided against itself, that KINGDOM cannot stand. And if a HOUSE be divided against itself, that HOUSE cannot stand. And if satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. NO MAN CAN ENTER INTO A STRONG MAN’S HOUSE, AND SPOIL HIS GOODS, EXCEPT HE WILL FIRST BIND THE STRONG MAN, AND THEN HE WILL SPOIL HIS HOUSE (Mk.3:23-27). I want us to read it from the Message translation. Do you think it is possible in broad daylight to enter the house of an awake, able-bodied man, and walk off with his possessions unless you tie him up first? Tie him up, though, and you can clean him out (Mk.3:26-27).
From the Scriptures above, particularly the 27th verse, you will discover that as the head of the family, you are the strong man of your home. And no intruder has the right to enter your house and have access and influence over your wife and children without your express permission. No man or circumstance can steal the peace, joy, obedience, submission and respect that your wife has for you if you don’t allow the intruder. So, it is with your children. However, you must be vigilant to know that you are the righteous barrier between satan, sin and the world and your sheep. And this makes you satan’s prime target. The devil will do everything to dislodge you from your duty post so that he can gain access into your sheepfold and steal your sheep. Hence, you must not allow him to bind you. And if he has, you can break away by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ and through the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman.
These are the ways you can refuse to be bound by satan. The first is to recognize your place as the godly man, husband and father in your sheepfold. The second is for you to tirelessly and in faith, engage the weapon of prayer with fasting. And thirdly, you must surround yourself with men and materials that will increase your knowledge of who you are in Christ.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of the strongman and drive out every intruder that has gained access into my home.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to function as a keeper of my fold.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to stand firmly at the gate and keep the evil one away.
FAITH CONFESSION
I set myself upon the watch to keep an eagle eye on my sheep and sheepfold against every intruder because that is my design as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
