GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER (1)

Spread the love

Main Scripture: Lk.6:38

More Scriptures: Gen.8:22, Gen.18:19, Ruth 4:13

Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Lk.6:38). This Bible passage is a very familiar one, especially during offering time in church. So, this Bible passage has been associated to offering but by the help of the Holy Spirit, a new insight has been shown me and I want to share it with you as the head of the family. And I pray that in the name of Jesus Christ, the revelation from this teaching shall made the most positive impact in your life and extend to your wife and children. Now, the Scripture talks about the principle of sowing and reaping. It says, “give and it shall be given unto you”.So, the question that you must ask yourself is this, “what have I given to my wife and children and what am I giving to them?”. The second challenge is this. In what measure are you giving to your sheep?

As the head of the family and the one whom God has chosen to be in front and lead your flock, you must understand that whatever you receive from your wife and children is in direct proportion of what you have given to them. If your wife and children honour you so highly that you feel like a king, it is because you first gave them honour in large measure. If your sheep demonstrate a high level of loyalty to you, it is because you have sown loyalty to them. You did not leave them when they needed you most. You did not betray them. If your flock shows you so much respect to the extent that they are ready to do anything to protect you, it is because you have sown respect to them by not speaking down on them or destroying their self-confidence. You must appreciate that as long as you are in this world and the world has not come to an end, the law of planting and harvesting shall not cease. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease (Gen.8:22).

You must also understand that God has created you to be a seed-bearing agent (Gen.2:5, Gen.4:1, Ruth.4:13). God has deposited inside you, godly seeds of kindness, honour, faithfulness, patience, goodwill, protection, respect, and much more. You must make efforts to keep sowing and keep giving all the virtues of Jesus Christ to your sheep, not in small measures but in big measures, irrespective of their behavior. Becoming the godly man, husband and father is hard-work, and it requires from you focused commitment and discipline. It is not and will never be cheap talk. For you to grow in your calling as the godly husbandman, you must allow the word of God to influence the way you think, act and relate with your wife and children.
