I HAVE DREAMED A DREAM

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Genesis 37:8-9

More Scriptures: Jer.1:12, Ac.10:3, Ezk.7:13

The late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made a remarkable speech about the great dreams he had for America shortly before He was assassinated. He was a human rights activist, who galvanized the black community in United States of America to believe that they can become all that God created them to be in the land of the free. This famous statement was made more than fifty (50) years ago today. For the first time in the history of America, a black man became the president. Many more blacks have held very high-profile positions in all facets of the human endeavor in America.

The message for you and I, who are shepherds over the sheep of God in our custody, is that with God-kind of dreams in our hearts for our sheep, our wives and children become good and godly sheep.  And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, behold, I HAVE DREAMED A DREAM more, and behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me (Gen.37:9). Let me share my personal testimonies with you. Before I married my wife, I had a great dream about my wife and children and the relationship that I hoped to develop with them. I had great wonderful dreams about the future with them. When I got married, I began to dream of my wife becoming a humble and submissive wife clothed in a gentle spirit. I had a dream that my children shall be great and mighty on the earth. My dreams had its foundation on the Word of God. And that has driven me to pursue excellence in my marriage. I can tell you that my dreams are gradually becoming a reality.

As the head of the family, it is very important for you to understand the place of dreams in the administration of your family kingdom. The picture you form in your mind is as important as the events and manifestation that you see outside. Your dream is as powerful as your life. This is why the Scriptures tell us that as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Pro.23:7). This means that as it is in your dream so shall it be in reality. Husbands, what kind of dreams do you have about your sheep? If you don’t have any, let me help you with some. I have a dream that one day, my wife will sit on my lap, resting under the comfort of my arm and shoulder. I have a dream that one day, my wife will be hospitable and honourable to me as her head. I have a dream that someday, my children shall be called the blessed of the Lord. I have a dream that one day, my wife and I will give out our children in marriage. I have a dream that I will be a leader of influence to my wife and children. I have a dream of a peaceful and joyous relationship between me and my sheep.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me to dream godly and positive dreams about my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from dream killers.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of faith to go farther and better concerning my sheep and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION:

I dream again that my wife and children are God’s heritage and they will become great and mighty on earth because that is my assignment as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen
