LEAVING THE PRINCIPLES

Have you pondered on why the office of the husbandhood has lost command, power and influence? Well, the reason is because husbands have left the principles of God that guide the office of the husbandhood and embrace the principles and traditions of the world. The husbandman leads his sheep and sheepfold by the culture of the world. A few years ago, the Holy Spirit said to me very clearly that, when we distort the order we disrupt the blessings.

No husband can exercise and attain his full potential if he leaves the principles and laws guiding the function of his office as provided by God in the Bible and follow the patterns of the world. Today, many husbands have become dependent on their wives for their upkeep-spiritually, financially, materially and even accommodation- and they don’t see anything wrong. It is against the will of God. Now, let us look at some of the principles of God around the office of the husbandhood. First, it is leading your sheep in the way of the Lord. In Gen.18:19, the Scripture says, I know him, that he will COMMAND HIS CHILDREN and HIS HOUSEHOLD after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Now, what did God say about this husband? God said through his family shall all the families of the earth be blessed. (Gen.12:3). How would you think that you could be a man of authority in your home when it is your wife who prays, fasts and attends to spiritual matters? Never! This is why husbands are beginning to lose their place of authority in the home front. The second principle of God is for you to be the provider for your family. There is this half truth being taught in churches and many places that is against the principle of scriptures. It is taught that since the husband and wife are now one flesh, the responsibility of one becomes the responsibility of the other. So, rather than the husband to provide for his family, he now looks to his wife for provision. Husbands, being one with your wife does not abdicate you from taking full personal responsibility of providing shelter, food, clothing, school fees e.t.c for your flock. After God created the earth and everything therein, He placed the husband to cultivate and keep. The wife only came and met the work and improvements that her husband had done. If you were bold to marry a woman, you must be responsible to take care of her needs. If you are proud to be a father, you must be responsible to provide all that your child needs to grow and develop. For a man who cannot provide for his own household is worse than a sinner (1Tim. 5:8)

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to receive the Spirit of truth.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of  falsehood and lies.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, strengthen me to be alive to the demands of my office.

FAITH CONFESSION

I remain steadfast and I focus on the principles of the word of God to lead my sheep because that is what I need to become the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
