THE HUSBAND WHO FASTS AND PRAYS (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Acts 14:22-23

More Scriptures: Mk.9:29, Lk.9:28-29, 2Cor.11:27

Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband was a man who gave Himself to the spiritual demands of fasting and prayers. This explains the exploits we read about in the Bible. He wants every husband to operate in that realm of power and authority. He wants every husband to be the groom indeed to his bride and a good shepherd to his sheep. So, you don’t have any excuse to give for not fasting or contracting your prayer life to a third party. The Scripture in Luke 10:19 affirms the truth that you have power with God. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. You can discipline your appetite. You can bring your stomach under control.

As a husband, your wife and children must be confident to call on you in times of crises or challenges for answers. The Scripture says that as Jesus is, so are we. As His Father sent Him to be the Moses to the world, so has He empowered you to become the savior of your flock. When you engage in fasting and prayers, you are not hurting yourself. Rather, you are arming yourself to operate in the supernatural. It is very risky and dangerous for you to live your life outside the atmosphere of prayer and fasting. It is like a shepherd who goes to sleep. Anything negative can happen to his sheep. You are the head to take the lead. Fasting and prayers empowers you to become a good and godly husband indeed to the extent that they can refer to you and your God. That is what makes you relevant.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of the belly.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, impart me with the Spirit of diligence and discipline.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me not be weary of spiritual exercises.

FAITH CONFESSION

I engage in a lifestyle of prayer and fasting because that is what empowers me as a good and godly husband to triumph in all circumstances of life in my family fold in Jesus mighty Name. Amen.
