HUSBANDS AREN’T SLAVE DRIVERS (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ezk.34:2-3

More Scriptures: Jn.13:4-5, Jn.14:18, Ps.23:1

Son of man, prophecy against the shepherds, prophecy and say unto them, thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds, woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves. Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed but ye feed not the flock (Ezk.34:2-3)

If you recall the story of the people of Israel in the land of Egypt, you would understand what it means to be a slave driver. The Bible records that the Egyptians made the Israelites to work so hard and in unbearable conditions. The people of Israel were harassed, tortured and degraded by the Egyptians, who were their slave masters. The slave masters were not concerned about the welfare of those working for them. Rather, they subjected them to more pains and discomfort. All the Egyptians did was to enjoy the laborious work of the Israelites. A lot of husbands are slave masters in their family fold. They subject their flock to emotional, mental and physical torture. They leave their flock to do all the work-go out laboring to earn income that pays the bills of the house and for the family upkeep, abandon their flock to do all the work at home notwithstanding their conditions.

That is not what God has ordained you to be. God did not send you to treat your flock, the way slave drivers behave.Your headship is not just to run around and be claiming that you are the head of the family. Your life and presence in the lives of your wife and children is to help them and not to enslave them. You are a valued-added agent in their lives. You are like yeast, a little addition triggers great positive impact.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every wrong mind-set.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every stronghold of tradition and culture.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the heart of service and humility.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a servant-master and not a slave master to my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband to my flock in Jesus Name. Amen.
