HUSBANDS AREN’T SLAVE DRIVERS (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jer.23:1-2

More Scriptures: Jn.13:4-5, Jn.14:18, Ps.23:1

Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord. Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people. Ye have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord (Jer.23:1-2)

But how do I change from a slave master to a servant-master? First, you must be in Christ. In 2Cor.5:17, the word of God tells us that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. It is the life of Jesus Christ in you that influences you to think like Him, talk like Him and treat your flock like He would. Secondly, you must continue to evaluate yourself by matching your words, actions and mind-set with the word of God. The word of God must be your guiding principle and the platform upon which to build your convictions.

The Scripture commands us to think and act along these lines, whatsoever is true, whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever, is of good report, whatsoever is pure, think on these things )Php.4:8). As a husband who has been called by God to become a good and godly husband, you cannot be greater than what you think and allow to dominate your thought life. If you think your wife or children are your slaves, you will see them in that light. But if you think that they are treasures from God, you will see them in that light also. So, always remember that although the position of the husbandman confers on you priestly and kingly functions (Rev.5:10), you are servant-master. Therefore, make it count greatly in the lives of your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every wrong mind-set.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every stronghold of tradition and culture.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the heart of service and humility.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a servant-master and not a slave master to my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband to my flock in Jesus Name. Amen.
