RESPONSIBILITY BIRTHS INHERITANCE (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gal.4:1-2

More Scriptures: Lk.18:1, Amos 6:1,

Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had (Gal.4:1) NLT

No husband will ever take possession of his godly inheritance in Christ unless he becomes responsible spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. A lot of the times as the head of the family, we are quick to claim the promises of God for our positions, we also quick to remind our flock that we are the head of the family, yet we continue to fail in living up to the expectations of the calling of our office. There are husbands that are forty or even fifty years old and yet have not grown up. And there are others that are less than thirty years old but are ably responsible. You must understand that responsibility is not about your age, the fluency of your grammar, it is about doing what is commanded from the word of God to access and possess what is provided. Being a responsible man, husband and father is what delivers you from slaves-dependent, unreliable and unworthy leader. What gives you access to your rights and privileges as the godly husbandman in your sheepfold is not your might but your responsibility-doing what God has commanded you to do as the godly man, husband and father. You cannot claim your rights if you have not shown that you are responsible. Your wife and children must see you live up to the demands of your office by becoming the spiritual gateman, provider, shield, guide, mentor and motivation to them. The Scripture tells us that by their fruits you shall know them.  So, have you taken responsibility for your leadership role in your sheepfold?

Now, these are some of the ways you are expected to be demonstrate maturity and responsibility. As the shepherd of your sheep, you must be spiritually and physically alive to watch over your wife and children. God has made you a watchman. God has positioned you to be at the watchtower to defend, influence and determine what happens in your sheepfold and with your sheep. Jesus Christ, speaking said, “men ought to always pray and not faint”(Lk.18:1). Even God has given Himself to us as the perfect example of watchman when He said, “He that watches over thee neither sleep nor slumber? And Amos 6:1 warned that woe unto him that is at ease in Zion. But why is this very critical for the success of your headship? This is because there are many adversaries. There are principalities and powers and rulers in high places that want to frustrate and scatter every godly sheepfold. If you are not on guard, you will lose your place. If you have not empowered yourself by the Spirit of God, you will be defeated when the pressure and challenges show up. The Scripture says that when you fail in the day of adversity, your strength is weak.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every root of irresponsibility.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be spiritually alert as a watchman over my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break the power of spiritual deafness and blindness in my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a son and not a child and I manifest my headship by taking complete responsibility for the demands of my office as the husbandman because that is what gives true value to my worth as the good and godly shepherd in Jesus name. Amen.
