ALCOHOLICS ARE FOOLS (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures:  Hosea 4:11

More Scriptures: Pro.20:1, Jn.2:10, Gen.9:21

If you have seen alcoholics in their state of drunkenness, you know that they behave foolishly. They speak foolishly and act irresponsibly. This is why in the next few days, we will explore from the word of God why alcoholics are foolish and unwise. So, whether you are casual or professional drinker, please pay attention to this teaching.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler, and whoever errs or reels because of it is not wise. (Pro.20:1) AMP

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler, whoever is led astray by them is not wise (Pro.20:1) NIV

Wine produces mockers, alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise (Pro.20:1) NLT

Wine makes you mean, beer makes you quarrelsome-a staggering drunk is not much fun (Pro.20:1) MSG

This is God’s word and it settles any argument about alcohol consumption. God said that strong drink or alcohol is a foolish weapon and any husband who drinks alcohol is not wise. God is saying that whoever drinks alcohol in any measure is foolish. And as the head and spiritual leader of your home, God did not place you over your wife and children to behave foolishly. In Hos.4:11, the Bible says whoredom and wine and new wine TAKE AWAY THE HEART. What this means is that one of the ways you could derail from your wife and children is through alcoholic consumption. It steals your time, energy and peace. For instance, rather than spend time with your family at home after a hard day’s work, you will prefer to spend it in the beer parlour or garden drinking alcohol or red wine.  Those precious moments of your life that you should have invested in the lives of your wife and children so that through you they can become better people are wasted drinking alcohol all in the name of socialization.

Don’t be deceived by the lies of the devil that Jesus turned water into wine. Yes, Jesus turned water into wine, but He didn’t turn water into alcoholic wine. Infact, in verse 10 of John chapter 2, the bible describes the wine as the good wine. God is good hence cannot engage in foolish acts. Afterall, there is non-alcoholic wine. Why would you choose alcoholic wine? Husband, understand that alcohol in any form it is presented is a mocker. Just imagine a man who is drunk. He will end up in the gutters. If he escapes the gutters, he gets back home and begins to utter irresponsible words to his wife and children. Sometimes, he beats his wife and children up. Oh, what a shame! Why would you use your hard-earned money to buy disgrace and humiliation? What examples are setting for your wife and children and world? Does alcohol represent who you are in Christ as the good and godly man, husband and father? Can you safely say that Jesus Christ who is the example to follow as the head of the family, will drink alcohol?

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the rudiments and culture of this world.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with Your Spirit to overcome the power of alcohol.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me freedom from wrong associations and relationships.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I resist the force of alcohol because I have the life of Christ in me and I strive to become the good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
