WHEN YOUR ANGER HAS CROSSED THE LINE (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Eph.4:24-27

More Scriptures: Pro.27:4, Ezk.16:42, Pro.15:18

I want to share with you the truth about anger and to destroy the falsehood that as the godly husbandman, it is a sin to be angry. And I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that your eyes of understanding shall be opened to see the position of God regarding anger.

Now, when you consider the spate of suicide or attempted suicide amongst the husbandman, you would understand why today’s topic is very important. Many husbandmen have either killed their sheep or being charged for attempted murder. Many more have slipped into depression and are frustrated. And at the root of all these negative dispositions is untamed anger- the inability of the husbandman to control his anger. Sadly, a lot of shepherd have allowed uncontrolled anger to negatively affect how they relate with their sheep. Some have lost their sheep and sheepfold. This is not the will of God for you. The will of God is for you to keep your family and be a blessing to them (Gen2:15-18).

Therefore, in the next few days, we would be looking at what the word of God says about anger. What is the position of Scriptures as regards anger? So, is it good to be angry as the godly husbandman? What is the danger when you are controlled by anger? What are the signposts of untamed anger? How can you control the force and emotional grip of anger? When should you be angry and for how long?

Is it good to be angry as the godly man when your wife or child (ren) does something wrong? Yes. It is normal and does not make you less a godly man, husband and father. Therefore, putting away lying, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. BE ANGRY, and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the DEVIL. (Eph.4:25-27). So, it is normal to be angry whether you are a pastor, bishop, and founder of a ministry or any person whatsoever. Since the Word of God tells us that it is okay to be angry, what then is anger? It is a complete, normal, usually, healthy human emotion. It is a reaction to an unpleasant comment, situation or circumstances. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands are to behave was angry at some point when He got into the temple and found that the temple was desecrated by money changers. As a husband, it is okay to be angry with your wife or children when they misbehave or make comments or act in some unpleasant ways. However, when your anger becomes uncontrollable that is when it becomes a sin because it ultimately leads to destruction. The Word of God also teaches that though it is okay for you to be angry, it warns that it must not lead you to do or take destructive action against your sheep. As the godly husbandman and the head of your family, it is Christ-like to be angry but of the devil when it leads you to destroy the life of another person. This is why the Bible says, nor give place to the devil for untamed is his access.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to bring my emotion under control.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of the flesh.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me the power to forgive my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I bring my anger under control and I refuse to allow it to make me act irresponsibly because I want to become the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
