UNDERSTANDING YOUR POSITION-THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mk.11:9-11

More Scriptures: Eph.2:19, 1Thess.4:11-12, 1Thess.3:10

In every kingdom, there is always a king and subject. So, there is no king without a kingdom and to that extent, I would like to ask you these questions as the king over the family kingdom that God has committed into your hands. And I admonish you to answer the questions sincerely. If your answers are yes, continue to read, but if your answers are no, you may please stop reading any further, as it may dislodge your tradition and culture. Do you believe that your headship in your family kingdom makes you a king? Do you believe that no king can operate without citizens? Do you also believe that in your family kingdom, your citizens are your wife and children? As the godly husband, your family is likened to a kingdom, where you are a king. And as a king, you are to operate in godly wisdom and influence over the affairs of your subject, who are your wife and children. The Scripture says, you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God (Eph.2:19).

So, the first responsibility of your kingship is to know your wife and children. Every king knows his subjects and he relates with them personally. Your wife and children are not strangers to you neither are they foreigners. If you claim that you do not have knowledge of your wife and children, then you have failed in your task as a good and godly king. Now that you know your flock, how do you measure your value as a king? The principal way you measure your value is by the quality and quantity of good and godly influence you have on their lives and the direction you have provided. God sent you to your wife and children so that you can influence them for His kingdom. But for you to live out this truth, you must be willing and prepared to act like a king by being diligent with the works of your hands. And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing (1Thess.4:11-12). As a king, working with your hands is both a godly commandment and a cure to material lack. It is your responsibility to provide for your family. Another practical step is to consistently intercede for your citizen. In 1Thess.3:10, the Scripture says, night and day, PRAYING EXCEEDINGLY that we might see your face and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith. There are so many gaps that need to be filled in the lives of your wife and children. And you are the king God has sent into their lives to fill these gaps because that is your call as the king of your family kingdom.
