Main Scriptures: Col.3:9-10
More Scriptures: Gen.1:26, Rom.8:20, 1Tim.4:4
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men. (Jn.1:1-5). This Scriptures speaks about the Creator and the created. And that all things, including you and me are creatures. So, as the head of your family, God has created the office of the husbandman. He put you in charge so that you can create His kingdom in your sheepfold and in the lives of your sheep.
As a husband, have you ever met a manufacturer before? Well, if you have not, let me give you an insight into their world. Every manufacturer or creator has an idea of what they want to create. The final output in the line of production, most often than not, meets their expectation of what they have dreamed or imagined and hoped for. The output depends on the overall input of the creator. The manufacturer receives the input, processes it and brings out a finished product. Now, relate this to your relationship with your sheep. You will discover that you are like the creator or manufacturer and your wife and children are inputs. And what they turn out to be in life is the result of what you have invested in their lives. As the head and leader of your family, you are to reproduce the God-kind of life in you in the lives of your wife and children. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands are ordained to behave, reproduced Himself in the lives of His disciples. A time came in the ministry of the disciples of Jesus that people who saw them acknowledged that these men have been with Christ. The people saw the reflection of Jesus Christ in the lives of His followers. Jesus Christ reproduced Himself in His disciples. So, the questions you should ask yourself are these. What kind of life are you reproducing in the lives of your flock? Is your life worth emulating? If not, then you need to renew your life with the knowledge of Christ. Put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him (Col.3:10). Secondly, you must deliberately develop strategies to recreate your values in the lives of your wife and children. For instance, what are the Godly principles you are living by and want your wife and children to live with? As the head, you must take responsibility for the lives of your sheep. You must live an honest, compassionate and God-kind of life if you want to recreate same in the lives of your wife and children. God has given you the power to influence His nature in the lives of your sheep, but it first starts with you. Every change you want to see in your sheep begins with the change you have experienced in Christ by His word.
