FOOLISHNESS DEFILES THE HUSBANDMAN

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mark 7:18-23

More Scriptures: 2Cor.10:12, Lk.6:37, Jn.7:24

And he saith unto them, are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him, because it entereth not into his heart but into the belly and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, that which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. From within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man. (Mk.7:18-23)

If you study the above Scripture, you will notice that one of the evils that Jesus mentioned was foolishness. He said foolishness doesn’t proceed from outside of the man, rather, it is from within. That means that from the abundance of your heart, you mouth utter words to your wife and children. So, when you speak to your wife and children words that do not edify God, you are considered a fool and it defiles your heritage as the godly husbandman. Therefore, for you not to be defiled, there are four (4) things you must not do. The first is self-absorption. As the godly husbandman, you must not be absorbed with the failings or imperfections or even mistakes of your wife and children. When you get yourself in this wrong attitude, you will never see anything right about what they say or do. The result is that you will grumble and complain. Secondly, you must never, I mean never, compare your wife or children with anybody. God has endowed your wife and children with specific graces. There are good things that your wife and children can do that no other person can. The Scripture says that he that compares himself with others is not wise (2Cor.10:12). Your wife is unique. Your child (ren) is unique. Every time you compare your sheep with other people, your focus shifts from them to others. It also leads you to ignore the grace of God in their lives. Thirdly, you must not take your wife and children for granted. You must recognize that your wife and children are blessings and gifts from God. He gave them to you as raw materials to work on, nurture and keep. When you ignore your flock and do not appreciate them for every good that they may have extended to you or any other person for that matter, you have only shut the door for more acts of kindness. Learn to say thank you to your flock, in secret and in the open. Lastly, you must not judge your wife and children as unworthy. When they go out of bound, you correct them in love and compassion. It is your responsibility to help them to get out of their falling state. If you will give yourself to these demands, you can be rest assured of a new start in your walk with your wife and children.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from foolishness.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, set me from always comparing my sheep with others.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to do Your perfect will for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am filled with the wisdom of God and I do to my wife and children only those things that please God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
