THE CHRIST-LIKE HUSBAND

Who is a Christ-like husband? Have you ever asked yourself the question? Well, if you have not, let me give you the answer. The Christ-like husband has three levels of relationship. These relationships define the nature of Christ in you. As the husband and the head of the family, you must be FOR CHRIST. This is called IDENTIFICATION. You must identify with Jesus first at the home front and then outside. The life of Christ must reflect in your conduct. You must be bold to say “for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus, for it is the power of God unto salvation (Rom.1:16)”. The second level of your relationship with Jesus is that you must be WITH CHRIST.This is called RELATIONSHIP. Jesus speaking said, except a man be born against, he cannot see the kingdom of God (Jn.3:3). As the torch bearer of Christ in your home and a shining example to your flock of how Jesus lives, you must have a personal relationship with Him. And you do this by accepting Him as your Lord and personal Saviour. Yes, you are known to have declared the word of God unashamedly, but are you born again? If you are not or you have backslidden, I invite you to say the prayer of salvation in faith.

The third level is for you to be IN CHRIST. This is called ABSORPTION. The Word of God says, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…….(2Cor.5:17). You must be absorbed in Jesus and all that He represents. To be in Christ, is to declare Him Lord over your life. I mean, Lord over your finance, marriage, wife, children, health, career, business, just about anything and everything. When you live your life for Him, with Him and in Him, your wife and children will be inspired to want to follow your footsteps.

However, there are two important actions that you must take to be like Jesus Christ to your flock. The first step is to give attention to the word of God in its totality. The word of God is the life of Jesus in written form. As you fellowship with the word passionately and consistently, you will be changed into the image of Jesus. The second step is for to pray the instructions from the word of God into your life. Praying the word is what generates power for you to function in the truth of the word of God.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by Your Spirit, fill me with the Spirit of grace and supplication.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from spiritual complacency.
• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, make me both hearer and doer of Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I surrender my all to be like Jesus Christ to my wife and children because that is God’s will for me as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
