In one of our fellowship, that is the Lunch Hour Bible Study, it was established that those of us who attended the meeting had a blissful relationship with our sheep. As wonderful as this testimony was, yet we all have relations who are having one challenge or the other with their wives or children. So, the question is, why are we blessed husbands? The answer is that as the head of your family, who is having a nice time with your wife and children, you are supposed to be a blessing to other hurting husbands around you. In Gen.12:3, the word of God says, in blessings I will bless you and everyone who curses you I will curse. And through your family shall all the families of the earth be blessed. God has designed you to be a rescue agent in this generation. He wants to use you and I to bring hope to depressed husbands.

So, if I am blessed to become a blessing to other shepherds, how then do I help other husbands who may be having challenges with their flock? The first step you must take is to intercede for them-taking their place on your knees. When you pray it is all about you but when you intercede, it is all about others. You must care enough to appreciate that others need help. The Bible tells us of how we can intercede for others. I travail on my knees until Christ is formed in you (Gal.4:19). Secondly, as a blessed husband with testimonies, you should also share how God has helped you overcome some of the challenges they may be having. But please, don’t fake your testimonies. Share with them your encounters. In Rev. 12:11, the word of God tells us that they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of thy testimony. Your testimony of how God helped you to overcome adultery, anger, financial struggles, bitterness, hopelessness, and much more will strengthen the faith of other husbands. Sometimes what the next husband who is hurting needs is a ray of hope from you.

Thirdly, you follow them up through personal visits, phone calls or text messages. You need to call them up from time to time to share the word of God so that with progress of time, he will be established in truth. And as you walk in this light towards helping other husbands who may have missed the mark, you will be engraced to becoming a better shepherd. You will also receive the blessings of the Lord. The word of God tells us that he that waters shall be watered also. It is more blessed to give than to receive and whatever a man sows that is what he will reap.

  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to be a light to other husbands around me.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, fill me with the spirit of compassion towards the lost husband.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, fill me with the spirit of grace and supplication.

I make myself available to God as an agent of hope and strength to hurting husbands because it is God’s will for me as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
