LEARNING, A WALK TO MATURITY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Cor.8:2-3

More Scriptures: Philp.3:13, 1Jn.5:17, 1Jn.4:6

As the godly husbandman, the greatest mistake you will ever make is to think that you know everything. This perceived attitude is not limited to natural things but also spiritual things. You must understand that there is so much that you are yet to know about your wife and children and even your relationship with others. That is why our main text today is very important as it reminds you to be a live long learner if you want to become the good and godly husbandman. And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know (1Cor.8:2).

As a leader who wants to grow, develop and expand his leadership space, you must continue to evaluate your knowledge base. You must learn, unlearn and relearn. You must continue to seek for new ways of improving your relationship with your wife and children. Look at this verse of Scripture for a moment. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more. Circumcised the eight day of the stock of Israel of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews, as touching the law, a Pharisee. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church, touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made comfortable unto his death. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:4-10,13-14). Notwithstanding, the intimidating credential of Apostle Paul, he said, “I press forward”. Whatever you think you know now as the godly husbandman cannot be compared to what lies ahead for you. There are new insights you can discover from the word of God that would help the way you conduct your life, relate with your wife and children and others, manage your financial and other resources, care for your health and your attitude to your work. The Bible says this. The path of the just man is like a shining light that shines brighter, and brighter unto a perfect day (Pro.4:18). Note the word brighter and brighter. If you are the good and godly husbandman, you can be better. And if you are better, you can be much more. There is and will always be room for improving yourself as the godly man, husband and father.

But how do I keep learning to grow unto a matured godly husbandman? Principally, you must be humble in your heart. And you can receive this attitude when you ask the Person of the Holy Spirit to baptize you with the Spirit of grace and humility.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to continue to know You in truth and in spirit.

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the power of pride and arrogance in my life.

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of humility.

FAITH CONFESSION

I receive a fresh baptism of the spirit of humility to keep learning and improving myself as I lead my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
