As the head of your family and the spiritual leader over the lives of your wife and children, you must be very careful of two things. Firstly, you must be very careful with the philosophy and deceitfulness of this world. And secondly, you must be very careful with the rudiments of the world. You are a type of Christ in your home, and you are responsible to teach your children and wife the values and principles of the word of God.
Beware lest any man spoil you through the philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ (Col.2:8).
For example, what does the word of God teaches about kingdom finances? Did it teach that we must borrow to live a lifestyle that portrays us as people who have arrived or learn to depend on His supplies (Deut.15:6, Deut.28:13, Pro.22:4, Hag.2:7-9)? It is the philosophy of men to borrow and not the teachings of Christ. There are many more teachings out there that are contrary to what the Bible teaches. But as the good and godly husbandman, you must be committed and determined to pass down to your wife and children good and godly principles that would distinguish them from the crowd. You must let your decisions about the issues of life be influenced by the truth of God’s word.
As the godly husbandman, one of the fruits you enjoy when you follow the principles of Jesus and teach them to your wife and children, is peace and joy. According to the word of God, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. Furthermore, your wife and children grow up to rely on God and not man, faith and not doubt, contentment and not envy. They become more confident of the ability of God to supply all their needs according to His riches and not the connection of men or the principles of the world. You must understand that as the leader in your home, your legacy is much more important to God than silver or gold. However, for you not to fall victim to the philosophy and vain deceit or the tradition of men, you must believe all of God’s commandments and instructions to be true, and you must be courageous to stand for the whole truth of Scriptures. In Joshua chapter 1, the word of God tells us the importance of courage. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee….(Jos.1:7).
All of God is all of you. Obey all His commandments and make your life count.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the deceitfulness of life and subtlety of satan, sin and the world.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of obedience to do Your will.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by Your word over and above the rules and traditions of the world.

I have decided to follow all the commandments and instructions of the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
