EXAMINE YOUR LIFE AND THINK ON THESE THINGS

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Philippians 4:8

More Scriptures: Dan.1:8, Ss.5:16, Rom.15:14

The Bible passage of Philippians chapter 4 and verse 8 is one Scripture I want you to keep closely to your heart and use it as a control tool for testing your decisions and actions as the godly man, husband and father. I have no doubt that if you examine your life and conduct and measure it using Philippians 4:8, you will become a growing and maturing godly husbandman.

This is the Scripture. Finally, brethren, whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE, whatever things are JUST, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD REPORT, if there be anything virtue and if there is anything PRAISEWORTHY, MEDITATE on these things (Philp.4:8).

As the godly husbandman, you are daily faced with decisions to make for your life, towards your wife and children, in your finances, on your journeys and even in your relationships. You must understand that the decisions you make today will determine the doors that will be opened for you and your family in the future, either positively or negatively. The conflict and rough times you are having with your wife and children stem from the decision you took previously. A lot of the times as husbandmen, we do not weigh our actions and decisions based on God’s word before we act. And the result is chaos, fighting, bitterness, unforgiveness, malice and so much unhappiness and tension.

But what must you think on before you take that decision or action as the godly husbandman? They are truth, nobility, just, purity, lovely, good report, and praise. So, before you act, ask these questions. Is my action and decision truthful? Is it noble and just? Am I taking this decision from a sincere heart? Does it represent the love of Christ? Can my wife, children and loved ones say that what I did is good? Will God, my wife, and children and those around me be happy and proud of my action if they get to hear it? Will my conduct bring glory to the name of God? If your actions and decision do not meet the test in Philippians chapter 4 and verse 8, it is unrighteous. It is not worth your energy. Don’t do it. If on the other hand it meets it, do it joyfully and promptly.

You are the head of the family and an overseer over your wife and children. Your wife and children are bearing your names. You must weigh your action and be very careful of the decisions you take personally and in your relationship with your wife and children. God has great plans for you. He wants you to represent Him profitably in your home and to your wife and children. You must ask yourself this question. If Jesus Christ were to be in my position, what will He do? That is how you can make good and godly decisions as the good and godly husbandman and grow unto maturity.
