BECOME THE BEST, GIVE THE BEST

Before you begin to read and study today’s devotional, I want to encourage you to pause for a moment and read the topic again. BE THE BEST, GIVE THE BEST! Please, say it loud few more time.

As the good and godly husband, do you know what it means to be the best and give the best? Well, this is what it means. It simply means to give your best in character, conduct and speech. As the leading light in the lives of your wife and children, you must deliberately guide your behavior. You must understand that your conduct will always speak louder than your speech. Your life must show commitment, determination and passion to want to be the best leader, mentor and guide to your wife and children. The glory of your headship is more than just impregnating your wife and becoming a father. It is more than having your children or wife bearing your name. It is being an excellent, good and godly man, husband and father.

But how do I become the best and give the best of myself to my wife and children? The first thing you must do is to have a positive mentality about who you are in Christ. In Gen.1:26-28, the word of God says of you, let us make man in our own image and likeness and let him have dominion over all….(Gen.1:26-28). Also, in Rev.5:10-12, the Scripture says that God has made you a king and a priest unto Himself that you may reign in life (Rev.5:10-12). Apostle Peter said, you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a peculiar people…(1Pet.2:9). Until you can change the way you think, you cannot give your best of God to your wife and children. Secondly, you must resist the devil steadfastly in prayers and fasting. Putting your best forward is and will always be the will of God for you but there are many adversaries. Satan, sin and the world do want you to give your best to your sheep (1Sam.3:12-13, Gen.3:5-8). It is for this reason the word of God admonishes us to resist the devil steadfastly in faith (1Pet.5:8-9). The third step you must take is to ask the Lord to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you (Ps.51:10).

God has sent you to your wife and children so that you can demonstrate the best of His character to them. Make it count, positively and let it bring glory to Jesus Christ our Lord.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give the best of my life to my wife and children and the world.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, work through me to deliver Your best to my wife and children.
• Father in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak the truth from an inward heart towards my wife and children and to all men.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am the best and offer the best of God in me to my wife, children and the world around me because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
