CALLED TO A LIFE OF HONOUR AND DIGNITY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Sam.3:12-13

More Scriptures: Ps.133:2, Rom.12:3, Acts 10:1

The worst legacy you would leave behind as the head of your family is dishonor and disrespect. Most times as husbandmen, our actions and inactions paint a dishonorable picture of who we are. If you read the Scripture in 1Sam.3:12-13, you would discover the tragic story of a husbandman who did not run with dignity. His name is Eli. Although he was a priest, he over-indulged his children. He assumed a lot for his sons. He did not draw the lines that his sons must never cross. Sadly, in the end, God was unhappy with him and he and his children paid with their lives. In Acts of the Apostle chapter 5, the Bible gives a graphic description of a husbandman who did not run with dignity. His name was Ananias. His real character showed up when money was involved. He lied and didn’t speak the truth from an inward heart. His wife joined him and both of them paid with their lives.

As the leader in your home and the good and godly husbandman, your integrity is very important to God, your wife, children and the marketplace more than anything else. Why is this so? It is because your inward and outward action and conduct will always affect your wife and children, either positively or negatively. In Ps.133:2, the Bible says this. “It is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard that went down to the skirts of his garments”

So how do I run with honour and dignity? Firstly, you must accept the full demands of Scriptures as it relates to who you in Christ as the good and godly man, husband and father (Deut.28:1). Secondly, you must determine in your heart and strive to be like Jesus Christ. In Heb.12:2, the word of God says, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. This means that on a daily basis, you partner with the Person of the Holy Spirit, to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Thirdly, you must contend with every form of ungodliness in prayers. You must come against the force of the lust of the eyes, the lust flesh and the pride of life (1Jn.2:16).

God has called you to honour and dignity and He wants you to live the life. You must run with a sense of purpose for the good of your wife, children and humanity.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of darkness aimed to defile my life.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a large heart to honour You and Your words in all things and always.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a dignified and honorable life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have made up my mind to run my life and family honorably and in the fear of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
