Did you know that the value of your love for your children is determined by the quality of your time investment in their lives? Today’s teaching has become very timely for godly fathers, especially in this age we are in, where everyone seems to be very busy and in a hurry.
But a child left to himself causeth shame (Pro.29:15). As the head of the family, you must realize that your children are your seeds. They are your kind, just the same way every plant and animals produced after their kind. So it is very necessary for you to appreciate that your greatest investment is not the money you have stashed in the bank accounts. It is also not in the properties you have built for them. Infact, it is not even in the quality of secular education that you give them. Your greatest investment is the quality of time you invest into their lives at their young age and unto their adult life.
From our main text today, particularly verse 7, the Scriptures say, and you shall whet and sharpen them so as to make penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the minds and hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up (Deut.6:7). From this verse of Bible, you would note that you have no excuse to give for not having time for your children. As the head of the family and the father of your children, you must keep investing your time into the lives of your children. And that is what your children understand as love. To love your children is more than taking them to amusement parks or restaurant. It is far more than sending them on vacation abroad. If you sincerely love your seeds, you must dedicate your time into their lives. You must be like the wise farmer, who jealously guards and invests his time to ensure that his seeds grow and develop into fruitful harvests. Always remember this truth – that the glory of your children is in your name. They bear your name, and that is what will forever remain the world’s reference point to your family and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to value my children as You would and help me to guard them diligently.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of busyness and help me to invest my time into the lives of my children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit to give attention to my seeds for maximum performance.
FAITH CONFESSION
I make a fresh commitment, beginning from today to invest my time into the lives of my children because I want to be the good and godly husbandman to them in Jesus precious name. Amen.

- Father, in the Name of Jesus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me (Ps.51:10).
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You always (Jos.1:8).
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, sanctify my mouth and my lips to utter graceful words always (Matt.12:27).
