AND PETER CRIED BITTERLY (2)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Matt.26:69-75, Ps.51:10, Rom.8:1, Rev.3:20

After it dawned on Peter that he had betrayed Jesus Christ, he left the arena where he sinned to a quiet place and cried for mercy. This was exactly what David did in Ps.51:10, when he prayed this prayer, “create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps.51:10).

That is the attitude God wants you to develop as the good and godly husbandman. God wants you to return to Him when you fail Him or fall short of His glory. When you fall into sin, God doesn’t want you to remain in it. God wants you to come Him as you are and in your sinful state because He loves you with an everlasting love. It does not matter how far you have gone in sin and iniquity and feel unworthy to be called a godly shepherd, if you will walk to Jesus Christ today in true repentance, He will pardon you and make you clean. Do not allow satan to hold you bound in quilt and condemnation.

Read this passage and see hope in your return to Jesus Christ. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Rom.8:1). Jesus Christ has not condemned you, satan has. The Person you have offended is God and not satan. And the One you need to amend your ways with is God through Jesus Christ. God loves you so much. He doesn’t want your life to end in shame and a burden to your wife and children. God wants you to spend eternity with Him. There is hope in Jesus Christ. There is restoration in His name. Jesus Christ is inviting you today to come to Him. Are you ready to return to Jesus Christ today? I encourage you to accept Jesus’s invitation. I stand at the door and knock. Whosoever shall hear and open for me, I will come and sup with him (Rev.3:20).
