SET THE PRISONER FREE (1)

Spread the love

Bible Text: Matt: 27:14-16, Jn.8:36, Matt.6:12-14

Prophecy: There is a husbandman who had held his wife and children in prison in his heart. He has refused to forgive. He has held them in the prison of bitterness and hatred. He smiles with his wife and children but hates them in his heart. The Holy Spirit is saying to you this morning, let them go. Free them from the prison of hatred, bitterness and unforgiveness.

If you live in Nigeria, where I come from, you will notice that on some special days the Governors of states pardon prisoners by setting them free. I also believe it is the same in other parts of the world. This practice is from Bible.

Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would (Matt.27:15).

It is the tradition of the Jewish people that during a particular feast, the governor released some prisoners from the prison. It was his prerogative as to whom to release. And once the governor releases the prisoner, he or she stands released.

As the head of the family and the shepherd over your wife and children, God is asking you to release your wife and children from the prison of bitterness and unforgiveness you have held them over these months. You are holding your wife and children as prisoners in your heart because of what they did that hurt you. Though you smile with them, but deep down in your heart, you are bitter against them. You desire revenge and you hate them. God is asking you today to please, let them go. God is saying to you, set my sheep free. Forgive and forget. Hold no bitterness, malice and hatred against your wife and children in your heart. It is a sin and it displeases your Father who made you the head of the family.

But why should I release my sheep from the prison of my heart?
