HE SPAKE AND THEY FOLLOWED HIM (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jn.1:36-40, Ps.23:1, Acts 3:1-10, Jn.14:6, 1Tim.3:2

The major challenge that the husbandman is confronted with is the inability and failure of his wife and children to follow him, walk in his footsteps and obey him. But today I want to share with you the truth why the disciples abandoned everything and followed Jesus Christ. I am confident that if you put this truth to work in the way you lead your wife and children and sheepfold, they will lay their lives for you.

When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, look, the Lamb of God! When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, what do you want? They said, Rabbi, which means Teacher, where are you staying? Come, he replied, and you will see. So they went and saw where he was staying and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. (Jn.1:36-40) NIV

Do you know the secret why the disciples decided to follow Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is a Teacher. They are sure that if they followed Him, He will guide them and help them to succeed in life. Jesus speaking said, I am the way, the truth and the life (Jn.14:6). They knew Jesus Christ will not mislead them. So, can your wife follow you the way Andrew and Simon Peter followed Jesus Christ? Can you children trust you enough to follow you? If they don’t want to follow you, examine yourself and consider your ways. Are you teaching and guiding them in the things they should know? Are you communicating effectively to your wife and children, godly principles? If you are not a teacher, they will not follow you. The disciples acknowledged Jesus Christ as the Rabbi, which is Teacher, so they followed Him.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, lead me so that I can lead my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways, Your truth and life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be the good and godly teacher to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give attention to the word of God and I apply myself to the demands through my words and conduct because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
