THE CAR AND THE CAR WASH MAN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Tim.4:4-5, Heb.4:12, 1Tim.4:5, Jn.17:17, Eph.5:25-26, Gal.4:19, Matt.5:14, Eph.6:4, Lk.18:1

Sometime ago, I did not like the state of my car. Both inside and outside was dirty. I decided to take the car to a car wash. I specifically told the car wash person to thoroughly wash the car. I asked him to wash the engine, outside and inside of the car. He agreed but demanded a higher amount than what I would have paid. I agreed and after sometime, I returned to pick my car. The car was really clean and I liked it.

What is the lesson about the car wash the Person of the Holy Spirit wants to teach you and I as good and godly husbandmen?

The first is that your wife and children can be likened to the car. And the second is that you can be likened to the car washer, who thoroughly washed the car. Your wife and children may have spots and unattractive but you have what it takes to bring out the beauty in their lives because from the beginning, they are wonderfully and fearfully made by God.

For every creature of God is good and nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (1Tim.4:4-5). Your wife and children are good creatures from God. So the dirt you see in them is not their real persons. They are goodly assets that must be received with thanksgiving. You can clean them up just the same way the car wash man cleaned my car.

But how do I clean my wife and children so that they come out clean? Firstly, you clean them up by the word of God. The Scripture says that they are cleaned by the washing of the word. The word of God is powerful. It can pierce through anything, be it physical or emotional. In Heb.4:12, God’s word says that for the word of God is alive, powerful and sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing the soul and spirit, discerning the thoughts and intent of the heart (Heb.4:12).

Secondly, you clean your wife and children through intercession. For it is sanctified by PRAYER (1Tim.4:5b). As the good and godly husbandman, you have to intercede and continue to intercede for your wife and children, until Christ is formed in them (Gal.4:19).

Your wife and children represent your glory and honour as the good and godly man, husband and father. You must take personal responsibility to take out the dirt out of their lives (Eph.5:25-26, Eph.6:4). That is your call! That is your heritage as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to use Your word and intercession to clean my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to see the big picture about my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the pull and power of discouragement.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take hold of the truth of God’s word and will apply the word and prayer to clean my wife and children because it is my call as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
