THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN IS A CAREGIVER

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Eph.5:25-27, Gen.4:1, Deut.6:7, Jn.10:10, 2Tim.2:6, 1Pet.3:7, 1Tim.3:4-7, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.6:4, Jn.3:16, Ps.23:1-2, Deut.61:9

Let us begin today’s teaching by saying that there are two sides to the godly husbandman’s goodness. He is a caretaker and a caregiver. Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, you and I understood that we are caretakers. We are taking care of God’s assets and treasures-wife and children- in our custody. And God demands that we care for our wife and children as He would. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, you will not be careless with your wife and children but you will love your wife as Christ as loved the Church and nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord. Amen.

To better understand who a caregiver is, let us consider the old people’s home, where the elderly are kept and are being taken care of. A care giver at the home takes care of the old people. The caregiver gives everything but does not expect anything in return. The caregiver gives time, energy and resources to the weak person without thinking of any reward. The caregiver sacrifices their convenience so that the weaker person can be comfortable. The caregiver absorbs the smell, faeces, abuses, complaints and cries from the old people without fighting back or retaliating.  The caregiver is selfless and sacrificial. This is why very few can actually provide this kind of service anywhere in the world.

Now, that is who you are. God has ordained you to be a caregiver. God recognizes that you are stronger than your wife and children, who are seen as weaker vessels (1Pet.3:7). So He places you ahead of them in order for you to provide for them the type of care they cannot provide for themselves, just the same way the caregivers do for the elderly and old people what they cannot do for themselves. For example, your wife cannot become pregnant alone. She needs you to help her get pregnant. And Adam (husband) knew Eve his wife and SHE CONCEIVED, and bare Cain………… (Gen.4:1). It doesn’t matter what the doctors or any other person may have said and concluded about your wife and yourself as it concerns your fruitfulness, you can partner with God to make your wife pregnant. Your child needs you to help him or her become the seed whom the Lord has blessed, through you deliberate and tireless investment of your time and resources in their lives (Ps.61:9). In Deut. 6:7, the Scripture says, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up.

There are so many areas where God demands you to care for your wife and children. If you study the Bible, you will discover how to care for your wife and children. You will discover what is expected of you as God’s appointed caregiver (Eph.5:25, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.6:4, Gal.4:19, 1Tim.5:6-8, Lk.18:1).

The husbandman that laboureth shall be first partaker of the fruit…(2Tim.2:6). It may seem you are not getting any rewards at the moment for all your care to your wife and children. Please, do not be discouraged because your labour of love shall not be in vain. God will bless you and you will enjoy the fruits of caring for your wife and children. Be the wise caregiver! It is profitable both to God and to your wife and children.
