VISION MAKES THE JOURNEY GREAT

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jer.1:10-12, Gen.1:2-3, Eph.5:25, 1Tim.3:1-5, Is.60:1-3, Eph.6:4, Is.61:9

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the Lord unto me, thou hast well seen for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Jer.1:11-12) KJV

A lot of times as the head of our families, we do not appreciate the importance and power of vision as one of the most crucial tools that help us to maximize our leadership role in the sheepfold. And this explains why so many husbandmen give up quite easily and quickly when they are faced with the challenges of life. Many more do not have any more reason why they must remain in the sheepfold and continue to lead their wife and children. All of this is because the shepherd has no vision for his life and that of his wife and children. It is for this reason that I encourage you to give attention to our main text today.

Prophet Jeremiah was ordained a prophet before his mother ever conceived him. God had made him a leader from the foundation of the world but he did not see what God was showing him, So God had to engage him. God asked him, “what do you see or better still what can you see?”   And he responded that he saw an almond tree. God responded that he has seen well. With this understanding, he never gave up on his assignment as a prophet over the people of God.

With vision that you can see from the word of God, you can lead your wife and children without giving up on your role as the godly man, husband and father. It is true that you are under pressure to be a responsible shepherd to your wife and children.  No matter what the challenges may be, you can sustain your role as the good and godly husbandman by the power of vision. The vision that your wife and children are wonderfully made, and that they are made of beauty and glory, must dominate you and inspire you to continue to do good to them, no matter their shortcomings.

So, what is the power that a godly vision for your family can have on your life thereby making you to succeed as the godly man, husband and father? Firstly, godly vision allows you to see things not as they are but as God sees them. This means that you see the good in your wife and children, and you allow the love of God to influence your action and decision (Rom.12:21). Secondly, godly vision allows you to be filled with compassion and mercy toward your wife and children, and this helps you to act positively to help them and make them better people. Thirdly, godly vision gives you conviction to stand with your wife and children inspite of their shortcomings and this inspires confidence in you to speak against every satanic force causing all the troubles in your sheepfold. Finally, godly vision brings you fulfillment that you are a fighter and not a loser.

This is the word of the Lord for you.” where there is no vision, the people perish”

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to have greater vision for my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with greater vision for my sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of faith and boldness to stand firmly for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am filled with the vision of God for my wife and children and my sheepfold and by it I pursue God’s will for my life and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
