In the times we are in, whose examples are you following as the good and godly husbandman? This question is so important for you and me in order to have and live a life that portray us as godly men, husbands and fathers. So, today, we will be taking our reading from Ephesians chapter 5 and verses 1 to 2.
Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children, and walk in love as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour (Eph.5:1-2).
The above Scripture says you and I must be followers of God through Jesus Christ because He is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman.Everything that makes for good and godly husband-hood is in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. He has the plan that will make you succeed in your position as the good shepherd. While Jesus Christ was on earth, He demonstrated to you and I how to be loving, merciful, compassionate, caring, protective and a provider. This is why in Ephesians chapter 5 and verse 25, the Bible says that as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself (Eph.5:25b). So, the same way God has ordained your wife and children to be your followers is the same way He wants you to follow Him. God provides the plan, guide and direction for you. So, Jesus Christ is your reference.
God wants you to following Jesus Christ in the path of righteousness because Jesus Christ is the Righteous One. You must first be doer of every instruction that Jesus Christ has laid for you in His word-the Bible. It is your walk with Jesus Christ that determines how much influence you will have over your wife and children. Most importantly, your life must demonstrate an unwavering submission to the will of God, from His Word- Bible. What this means is that the word of God is and must be your final authority in your relationship with your wife, children and in the market place of life. The sum total of your following Jesus Christ reflects in your thoughts, action and conducts. And this is what attracts your wife, children and others to follow you.
Therefore, if your wife and children have become rebellious or resist following you, you must ask yourself these following questions. Am I living a transparent and righteous life that my wife and children can emulate? Have I truly been a worthy mentor to them and other husbandmen? Do my actions towards my wife, children and other people and the things of God agree with what the Bible commands? Have I said something negative or did something different from what God commands?
As the good and godly husbandman, you must continue to examine your life and consider your ways to be sure you are living a life well pleasing to Jesus Christ our Lord.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with an undying love for Your word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let my life bring You glory and honour.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to submit my will to the power of Your word.
FAITH CONFESSION
I renew my commitment to following Jesus Chris in truth and in Spirit because that is what I require to impact my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen
