Did you know that you and I have a superior? And did you also know that if any husbandman wants to be lord over his wife and children, he must first acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Lord over his own life?
Consider the Scripture in 1st Corinthians chapter 11 and verses 1 to 6, and note the pattern of hierarchy.
The head of Christ is God and the head of the man is Christ and the head of the wife is the husband (1Cor.11:1-6)
The word of God says that God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man and you are the head of your wife. Before you think that your wife and children must recognize you as their head, do you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your head? Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman always recognizes God as His head and that is why God always honour Him.
As the good and godly husbandman, until you acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus over all that you represent, you will struggle to exercise control and influence over your wife and children. In the power process of your family life, you are the go between God and your wife and children. Why is this? It is because He made you the head of your family. That is what the Scripture in 1Cor.11 tries to communicate to you and me. It says, the head of Christ is God and the head of the man is Christ……
So, the same way Jesus Christ does only those things that please the Father because He is under the authority of God, is the same way you must subject yourself to Jesus Christ and do what He commands you to do in your life and to your wife and children. You must first learn how to be accountable to Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church and the perfect example of the good and godly husband, before your wife and children can be accountable to you.
In Jn.17, the Scripture says, and now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee….(Jn.17:11-12). See how Jesus Christ submitted wholly to the Lordship of God. He said, “I come to thee-God”. This is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, One with God, solemnly relating to God in the fashion of a son and father relationship. Any wonder, billions of people around the world are declaring Him their Lord and Saviour.
Yes, it is true that the position as the head confers on you the benefits of a lord but you must first demonstrate your submission to Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman.
When you submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, you receive power from Him to create the godly influence that you want to see in your life and in the lives of your wife and children. You are also imparted with the Spirit of Christ that enables you to overcome the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
God wants you to enjoy your leadership as the good and godly husbandman. He wants you to lead your life, wife and children in all goodness and godliness. God wants your wife and children to submit to you in all things. But you have a responsibility to learn to submit your own life to Jesus Christ as your Lord in order to attract the same submission from your wife and children.
Therefore, whatever Jesus Christ tells you to do, just do it!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I surrender my will, emotions, my body to You.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I give You my life, my soul and my thought as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, please let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You.
FAITH CONFESSION:
I consciously and willing declare You, Jesus Christ, as the Lord over my life because that is the gateway for me to become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
