Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we understood as husbandmen that the choices we make must be founded on the word of God. And if the choices we want to make goes against the principles of Scripture, we must never make it.
Thankfully today, we want to consider who gives the husbandman the ability to choose what is right. And the Bible passage we shall be considering is Philippians chapter 2.
Wherefore, my beloved, as all of you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings (Philippians 2:12-14)
A lot of the time, the husbandman thinks he can do those things that please God by his own wisdom. Other times, he uses his human ability and thinks that will also help. In both ways, the husbandman struggles to walk in ways that please God. And this is why the word of God says that, it is not by power nor by might but by my Spirit saith the Lord (Zech.4:6).
From the Bible passage in Philippians chapter 2 and verse 13, it is clear that God is the only person who can empower you to do His good pleasure. Only God can make you to submit to Him in all things and only He alone can make you to obey Him in all things. Furthermore, only God can empower you to walk in love toward Him and towards your wife and children. Only God can make you live a life of righteousness and holiness. Those godly virtues and attitudes you desire in your life can become a reality when you are empowered by Spirit of God.
So, how do I get God to help me to do His perfect will as I lead myself, wife and children?
You get God’s help through the weapon of prayer (Jas.1:3-7). The prayer platform is the altar of empowerment. The Bible says this. Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that thou knowest not (Jer.33:3). You must learn to go before the Lord through Jesus Christ on your knees. You must study the word of God and call unto Him to help you become all that He wants you to be.
Every change you want to see in your life can be conceived and birthed on the prayer altar. It takes much more than the physical strength to effect a change of character. It takes spiritual warfare to make positive changes possible. Are you ready pray to God for empowerment to becoming the good and godly husbandman?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me an effectual praying husbandman.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to continue to connect to Your power to fulfill Your perfect will.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me not to be discouraged in praying for the needed changes that I desire to see in my life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I continue to stand in prayer, praying the perfect will of God’s to be done in my life and doing those things that please Him because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
