YOUR FATHER WANTS YOU FRUITFUL

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Col.1:9-11, Jer.29:11, Jn.3:3, Philp.2:13, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.12:1-2, Philp.3:10, Rom.6:1, Mk.9:29, Rom.6:13, 2Cor.7:1, Jos.1:6-8, Ps.1:1-3

Yesterday, we understand that rather than the husbandman who has erred to remain in his sinful life, he must return to God in repentance, just like the prodigal son did, in Luke Gospel chapter 15.

But why do I return to my heavenly Father and work out my salvation with fear and trembling?

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it do not cease to pray for you and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthen with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness (Col.1:9-11).

The above Scripture tells you why your heavenly Father wants you back. God wants you to be fruitful in every good works. God wants you to increase in the knowledge of Him. God wants you to be filled with wisdom and spiritual understanding. God wants you to walk worthily of your minsitry, pleasing Him in all things.

In Jeremiah chapter 29, the Bible says this about God’s plan for you.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you an expected end (Jer.29:11)

God is always thinking about how you can become all that He has created you to be as you lead yourself, wife and children. As the husbandman, your Father’s thought for you is to be productive as the man, husband and father because when you are fruitful you enjoy peace as the good and godly husbandman.

There are three important steps you must take if you want to be fruitful as God has purposed for you.

The first is that you must have and maintain relationship and fellowship with God through Jesus Christ (Jn.3:3, 2Cor.5:17, 2Cor.7:1, Rom.12:1-2, Rom.6:1, Rom.6:13). As the husbandman, you must do only those things that please the Lord by obeying all that God commands you to do as the good and godly man, husband and father.

The second is to give attention to the study and meditation of the word of God. That I may know him and the power of his resurrection (Philp.3:10). The more you study the word of God and think about what He says about your role as the good and godly husbandman, the more you are empowered by the Spirit of God to please Him (Philp.2:13).

The third step is for you to engage the weapon of prayer for empowerment to do what God wants you to do. This kind goeth not forth except by prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). Very often, your spirit is willing to do what is right from the word of God but the flesh is weak because of satan, sin and the world. But when you pray fervently, you develop spiritual capacity to overcome the power of the flesh and do only those things that please God.

As the husbandman, you have a great destiny with God. Make it happen with your heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with Your love.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to delight in studying and meditating on Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by the truth of Your word and make my life a worthy vessel unto You, my wife, children and in the market place.

FAITH CONFESSION

I return to my heavenly Father and I am now doing those things He commands me to do as I lead myself, wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
