DON’T LET DOWN YOUR GUARD

Bible Texts: Mk.13:36-37, Am.6:1, Jn.10:1-3, Gal.4:19, Eph.5:16, Matt.26:41, Jn.14:26, Mk.9:29, Hab.2:1, Pro.20:12, Matt.13:16, Philp.4:8

We begin today’s teaching by looking at two Scriptural truths about the dangers of letting down our guard as husbandmen.

Watch and pray that ye fall not into temptation (Matt.26:41)

Woe unto them that are ease in Zion (Am.6:1)

Becoming the good and godly husbandman is not a wish but a determined commitment. It is also not a sprint but a marathon. This is why it is dangerous to let down your guard as you walk the journey to becoming the good and godly husbandman.

Lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping. AND WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU I SAY TO ALL, WATCH (Mk.13:36-37)

The Word of God says that you must watch so that you do not fall into error and away from the values and principles of God that build the good and godly husbandman.  You must continue to watch the relationships you entertain and keep, what you think, what you say, what you do, and how you respond to the issues of life so that you conform to the perfect will of God for you (Philp.4:8).

You must continue to watch over your family, especially your wife and your children, with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, so that you can discern any ungodly influences in their lives and pray against them. Remember that you are the shepherd and your wife and children are your sheep, and all of you are in the sheepfold (Jn.10:1-3).

You must guard your life by continuous study of the Bible with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit (Jn.14:26). The more you keep studying the Word of God, the more you encounter God’s personality and the more you become empowered to be strong, steadfast and unwavering in your walk as the good and godly husbandman.

Therefore, guard your life by the truth of God’s word. Don’t let down your spiritual guard. Keep walking in the Spirit. Keep protecting the truth from God’s Word that you know. Keep searching the Word of God. Keep praying. These are the spiritual responsibilities that empower you to become the good and godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being careless in my leadership role as the man, husband and father.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to exercise power and authority as I watch over my life, wife, children and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stand upon my watch and set myself upon the tower of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to exercise watchfulness over my life, wife, children and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
