YOU ARE THE SHEPHERD OF YOUR SHEEP

Spread the love

I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep (Jn.10:11)

Every husbandman is a shepherd (leader), shepherding the sheep (wife and children) in the sheepfold (home). What the shepherd does or doesn’t do will determine if he will be called the good or bad shepherd (1Tim.3:4, Eph.5;25, Eph.6:4, Col.3:19, Jn.3:16, 1Pet.3:7).

As the husbandman, you must understand that God has committed your wife, your children and your home to your care (Jn.10:29). You have the covenant responsibility to shepherd them as God commands from His Word, and not according to the rudiments of this world.

But what makes you the good and godly shepherd, that is an effective leader, in your home and in the lives of your wife and your children?

First, you know the way of the Lord, you show them the way, you lead the way, and they follow you (Jn.10:4). Secondly, the spirit of your voice, that is your godly influence, is stronger than the voices of the world that may want to distract them from the path of righteousness (Ps.29:1-2, Jn.10:5). Thirdly, you are present in their lives, helping them to become useful spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, and relationally (Jn.10:14-15, 3Jn.1:2). Finally, you protect and shield them from the influences of satan, sin and the world through your continuous prayer of intercession, faith-filled Word declarations and training by the Word of God (Jn.10:28-29, Gal.4:19).

Your leadership at home and in the lives of your wife and children is not just a position, it is a call to greater responsibility that demands from you, unwavering commitment, dedication, sacrifice, and discipline. You are the door to your sheep and sheepfold (Jn.10:7). You hold the ace in Jesus (10:1-3). God will hold you accountable for the lives of your sheep and your sheepfold because you are their shepherd (Ps.23:1, Jn.10:29). Therefore, be the good and godly shepherd.

Hallelujah!

GOOD REPORT FROM THE FIELD

  • I really appreciate the day in day out devotional teaching. I have been on for roughly 4 weeks, and it has helped me calm down, hold myself accountable to my household and share Jesus Christ through my actions (James, W).
