I PRAY FOR THEM

Spread the love

I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me, for they are thine (Jn.17:9)

Jesus prayed for the people, that His disciples that God gave to Him. That is what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, taught. As the husbandman, one of your commitments to your wife and your children is to pray for them, always. You owe them that benefit. Praying for them is not the responsibility of your pastor, bishop, prophet, or anyone else, but you. It is not transferable and non-negotiable. It is your duty to pray for them.

But why must I pray for my wife and my children, the same Jesus, the good Shepherd, prayed for His sheep, the disciples?

First, it is because you are their shepherd (Ps.23:1-end). The good shepherd doesn’t leave his sheep straying away. The good shepherd guides, guards, feeds, leads, teaches, and nurtures his sheep (Jn.10:1-6).

Second, God gave them to you so you can steward them, and you will give your stewardship report of what you did and did not do to God on the last day. The Scripture says, “no one receives anything except it be given to him by God.” And “every good and perfect gift comes from God”. Your wife and your children are gifts from God, and you must take good care of them (Ps.127:3, Jn.10:29, Eph.5:28).

You must understand that as the husbandman, you have greater authority and power in the lives of your wife and children, than anyone or anything, if only you can take your rightful place in the Word of God, in prayer, and in faith (Jn.10:27, 1Tim.3:1). Stop allowing your wife and children to jump from one prayer conference to another looking for solutions, validation and self-worth. You are their first pastor and most influential person in their lives (Gal.4:19). Like Jesus Christ, take your place in their lives by praying for them, always

Hallelujah!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with Spirit of grace and supplication so that I can pray tirelessly for my wife and my children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, stir up the Spirit of revelation, so that I can pray according to Your perfect for my wife and my children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, stir up the Spirit of faith in me, so that I can pray in faith for my wife and my children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take responsibility to search the Word of God to know the perfect will of God for my wife, my children, and I commit myself to keep praying for them until Christ is formed in them, because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus’ name. Amen.

GOOD REPORT FROM THE FIELD

  • I really appreciate the day in day out devotional teaching. I have been on for roughly 4 weeks, and it has helped me calm down, hold myself accountable to my household and share Jesus Christ through my actions (James, W).
