The Lord said to Moses, give Aaron the following instructions. When you set up the seven lamps in the lampstand, place them so their light shines forward in front of the lamp stand. So, Aaron did this. He set up the seven lamps in the lamp so they reflected their light forward, just as the Lord had commanded (Num.8:1-3) NLT
My dear husbands, do you know that God wants our lives to be shining examples to our wives and children and the world around us? Other husbands should observe our lives and be inspired to be like Jesus Christ. That is God’s ultimate plan for you. In Matt.5, the Scripture clearly states this truth. Let your light so shine before men that they may see and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt.5:16). If you study the Scripture in Num.8:1, you will discover that the instruction God gave to him was not him but for others that he led.
You are leading your wife and children. You are also ordained to leave behind godly legacies that would speak long after you have left this world. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. ALL THE FAMILIES IN THE EARTH WILL BE BLESSED THROUGH YOU (Gen.12:3). So, your life is much more than food, clothes, houses, cars and lifestyles. It is about being accountable to God for what you did with your flock. You must also understand that the first place to shine your glorious light is in your family-fold. It is not in your church-fold or friends. Your wife and children are your first congregants and they must be the first people to testify of your lights. It is not enough for you to be zealous in church or be seen to be faithful and diligent outside. It is much more important for you to first reflect this attitude in the home front.
But for you to shine the light forward, you must allow the light of Jesus to shine abundantly in your life. As you allow the light of Christ to flood your heart, it will reflect in the way you talk to your wife and children. It will also reflect in the way you conduct yourself before outsiders. Therefore, strive to have more of His light inside you and it will rub off on your wife, children and the market places of life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a living and shining example to my wife and children.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, overflood my spirit-man with the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from of hypocrisy and a double life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am determined to make my lamp stand shine forward, for my wife and children and the world because that is what gives value to my headship as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
