Don’t Be Ashamed

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Rom.1:16

More Scriptures: Philp.1:20, 2Cor.10:8, Lk.9:26

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Rom.1:16)

I want to start today’s devotional by quoting from one of my father’s in the faith, Bishop David Oyedepo. He said, “It is foolish to be shameful of what is gainful”. This clearly captures what Apostle Paul said in Scriptures. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ; for it is the power unto salvation Rom.1:16. Apostle Paul was not ashamed to speak proudly of Jesus Christ and all that He did for humanity. Everywhere he went, he made bold to tell everyone what Jesus Christ did. A lot of the time when he declared the good news of Jesus Christ, it came at a cost to his life. Despite the attacks on his life and the fact that he was greatly despised, he never stopped to tell everyone how wonderful Jesus Christ has been.

This is the attitude that God wants you to have toward your wife and children. You must continue to speak glowingly about their personalities. And you do this by dwelling on their strengths rather than their weaknesses. For example, take your wife to functions where you let everyone know that you are her husband. Also, identify with your children in school, at the playground, and with their friends. Let the world know that you are their father. As the head of the family, it is important for you to know that your wife and children are gifts from God. And because God gives good gifts, then your wife and children are in your life to do you good and not evil. Furthermore, gifts are to be appreciated and protected. It is foolish to trample upon a gift. It is true that your wife may have added some weight or may not be as academically sound as you are. It may also be true that your children are struggling with their academic or social relationships. It doesn’t matter what their shortcomings may be, celebrate them and be proud of them.

One of the impacts this will do for you when you are not ashamed of your flock is that they will develop a better self worth. They grow up to become confident and bold. Secondly, they work hard not to abuse the confidence that you have in them. This was the secret of Apostle Paul. The more he talked glowingly about Jesus Christ, the more God revealed the fullness of His power and personality.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to behold great and positive virtues about my wife and children.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every spirit of condemnation and complaining.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to motivate my wife and children to attain Your full plans for their lives.

FAITH CONFESSION

I make bold to declare great things about my wife and children because that is what defines my headship as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
