UNDERSTANDING YOUR WIFE (2)

Yesterday, by the grace of God and the Help of the Holy Spirit, we understood from Scripture that the husband is different from his wife. Today, let us consider some of the wisdom keys to understanding your wife. The first key is the key of observation. The eyes God has given to you are not for fun. They are there to serve a purpose-observation. And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, TO OBSERVE and to do all his commandments…… (Deuteronomy 28:1). Until you observe your wife to know her strengths, weaknesses and fears, you cannot act any better. I have remarked that your wife is a project or specimen. She has emotions. If you must exercise godly authority over her, then you must understand her personality traits and consequently deal with her wisely. Your wife is not a robot. She is not a piece of furniture. She is human and has life running inside her. So, if you want to enjoy the favour and the blessings of God upon your life and the works of your hands, you must treat her as a gift from God. Open your eyes wide and learn of her.

The second key is intercession. A lot of the time, things change negatively between you and your wife. The more you try to reason out the possible causes, the deeper the crisis gets. Prayer is the key that reveals to you the missing link. In John 14:26, the Scripture gives you Someone Who can help you-the Holy Spirit. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS AND BRING ALL THINGS TO YOUR REMEMBRANCE, whatsoever I have said (John 14:26). And in Jn.16:13, the Scripture says that the Holy Ghost will show you things to come. That is revelation. You need the Person of the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s make up of who your wife really is. God made her as a fit and proper helper to you (Genesis 2:18). So, you must enter into partnership with the Person of the Holy Spirit to help you make decisions that would influence your wife unto godliness and righteous living. 

The third key is the key of effective communication. You must continue to engage your wife in healthy conversation. Communication is a powerful tool that you require to understand your wife. The more you discuss with her, the better you understand her capacity to handle certain tasks or responsibilities. Communication also gives you access to her inner world. This is what satan doesn’t want to see, so he fills your heart with bitterness, anger and hatred towards her. Your wife is not as bad as you think. She is a jewel of inestimable value sent by God to you for your good and not to hurt you. It is satanic to consider your wife as your enemy. It is foolishness to hate your wife. You are in her life to be a blessing. Let it count.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, please, grant me access into Your plans for my wife.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus and by the blood of Jesus Christ, destroy the root of ignorance in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me the things I must know about Your gift to me, my wife.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to learning about my wife from the WORD OF GOD and I do all those things that please her because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
