THE POINT-MAN ON PATROL

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Is.51:8-9

More Scriptures: 1Cor.15:34, Eph.5:14, Rev.3:2

In warfare, you would always see the leader going round to ensure that things are orderly in and around the camp. Most times, he is the last person to retire to bed, if at all he has to rest. This is because he takes responsibility for the lives of his men hence he becomes accountable. Well, that is who you are. As a husband, prophet and pastor of your sheep and sheepfold, you have to be on continuous patrol in and around your family territory. You are the man in charge. You are the center of gravity in your family. Everything rises and falls with you. You are the point man on patrol. You have been empowered by the Spirit of God to be on top of your game as a husband and head of your family. You are to provide support to, direction for and protection for your wife and children in every aspect-spiritual, emotional, mental, financial and physical. That means you must be equipped with adequate information about situations in and around the lives of your sheep. Ignorance is not an excuse. Assumption is dangerous. This is why the Scripture says, “Awake, awake”.

You have slept enough. You have given too many excuses why you have failed as the husbandman. It is time for you to rise up and take your place in your home. In Amos 6:1, the Bible tells us that woe unto him that is at ease in Zion. It is true that there are so many distractions out there. There are satanic forces trying to pull your flock far away from God’s plans. There are landmines that satan has set for you to fall. Therefore, you must be vigilant. The destinies of your wife and children are to be protected and preserved. You hold the key. You are their custodian. Your headship is not ceremonial. It is a calling unto greater responsibilities.

But the question is how do I patrol the territory of my family kingdom? There are two ways that you can patrol your family kingdom. The first is spiritual patrol. You must continue to grow in your spiritual walk with the Lord. And you can achieve this through diligent study of the word of God, fervent prayer, fasting and fellowship with other godly husbands. The deeper your spirituality, the greater the sensitivity of your spirit man to pick right and wrong signals and thereby helping you to make right decisions for your flock. Secondly, you patrol physically. This requires you to use your physical senses-eyes, ears and body –to observe the responses, reactions, mannerism or even body language of our flock. God has called you to oversee your family, make Him proud.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, break every siege of the devil on my family.
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, destroy the root of spiritual laziness in my life.
  • Father, by the prevailing power in the blood of Jesus Christ, open my eyes to see farther and better in my patrol work.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to work as the point man on patrol because it is the wisdom of God for me to reign as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
